A jewelled gold cigarette case, Eduard Schramm, possibly for Fabergé, St Petersburg, circa 1890
the body spot hammered, the cover applied with three stemmed flowers set with cabochon pear-shaped sapphires, rubies and rose-cut diamonds, the reverse applied with a diamond-set gold inscription 'Bien faire et laisser braire / 5 juin 98 -', the interior engraved with the initials HEC, struck to the flange with workmaster's initials, 56 standard
