A Meissen Figure of Augustus III, King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, Late 19th Century

after the model by J. J. Kändler, standing in triumphant pose wearing Roman-style armour and a draped cloak, holding a baton in his right hand with his left hand on his hip, brightly painted in shades of pale-blue, pale-yellow and pink, his abandoned helmet by his feet, upon a painted 'tiled' shaped-base, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, incised numeral 149., impressed numeral 40, numeral 42. in brown enamel

A circa 1736 example of this figure in the white is in the Saint Louis Art Museum, Saint Louis, obj. no. 256:1951a,b., formerly in the Collection of Heinrich Rothberger. A second 19th century example of this figure was sold at Sotheby's New York, Property from the Estate of Rochelle Sepenuk, October 21, 2008, lot 222.
