In 1904 bequeathed by the artist to his widow, Mary Seton Watts (listed in G.F Watts’s Will under ‘Seventh Part’, ‘Remaining Works to be retained by the Executors’, no. 78)
Thence by descent to Mrs Lilian Chapman, née Mackintosh in 1938 (the Watts’s adopted daughter); thence by descent to her son, Ronald Chapman in 1972; thence by descent to his son, Peter Chapman in 1994
