A set of thirteen Meissen plates, circa 1740
decorated in Imari style, painted in underglaze-blue with scrollwork at the rim, the centre with an unwrapped scroll painted with a flowering branch, heightened in iron-red enamel and gilding with blossoms and a perching bird, flowering branches to the underside, crossed swords and dot marks and painter's marks in underglaze-blue, pressnummer 39

Sotheby's Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected.
