A Meissen Teabowl, Circa 1728-30


painted on either side with a riverside scene, within Böttger lustre, iron-red, puce and gilt scrollwork-edged shaped quatrefoil cartouches, the interior with a medallion of flowers, gilt-scroll border at rim, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, gilt numeral 61., incised / to inside edge of footrim

together with a Meissen or Du Paquier Hausmaler teabowl, early 18th century

painted on either side with panels of pairs of Chinoiserie figures at various pursuits, within iron-red and gilt scrollwork-edged cartouches, the interior with a single flower, gilt-rims. 2 pieces.

Sotheby's Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected.
