A Höchst Figure of a Child dressed as a Sultan, Circa 1770
modelled by Johann Peter Melchior, wearing an elaborate Turkish costume, painted in tones of pale-yellow, green and puce, standing upon a grassy mound base, wheel mark in underglaze-blue.
height 7 1/8 in., 18.2 cm
Sotheby's Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected.
