Description

A Model of a WWII American Twin Engine Bomber, Probably B-25

height 13 in. ; width 69½in.; length 56 in.

33 cm,; 176,5 cm.; 142.2 cm.

This model depicts a North American B-25J Mitchell, an American medium bomber used by Allied forces across every theater of World War II. The insignias on the wings and fuselage indicate that this plane would have belonged to the United States Army Air Force, the predecessor to the United States Air Force. The particular aircraft depicted, identified by the nose art and number on the tail, was named “Peggy Lou” and served in Italy and France from her home base on Corsica throughout 1944. Peggy Lou was returned to the United States in late 1945 before being destroyed in a crash near Dayton, Ohio, in the 1950s.
