Description

A Model of a US F7F Tigercat, with Yellow Wings and Blue Body

height 14 in.; width 64½in.; length 56 in.

35.5 cm; 164 cm; 142.3 cm

This model depicts a Grumman F7F Tigercat, a heavy fighter aircraft usedby the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps from 1944 to 1954. While the aircraft never saw action in World War II, it was used throughout

the Korean War both as a night fighter and attack aircraft. Though the model appears to be an F7F-2N, the livery is the same as that used by F7F-2D drone controllers; during training, drone controllers were flown alongside the target

drones they controlled and used bright colors to ensure that gunners did not

accidentally hit the drone controller aircraft itself.
