painted, in the manner of J. G. Höroldt, on the front and reverse of the box with a mythical figure or birds, within elaborate shadowed iron-red and gilt elongated cartouches and on the sides with branches of indianische Blumen, the cover with Chinoiserie figures and a gilt band and cartouches of branches of indianische Blumen at the rim edge, K.P.M mark in underglaze-blue, gilt numeral 7. to box, 7 to cover

Sotheby's Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected.
