A Meissen Chinoiserie Waste Bowl, Circa 1728-30
of flared circular form, painted two cartouches of figures at various pursuits within quatrefoil cartouches with large Böttger-lustre sections edged with gilt scrolls issuing iron-red and puce scrolls, reserving puce-marbled panels supporting chinoiserie figures at the upper corners, separated by branches of indianische Blumen, the interior with a further similar panel, gilt-scroll border to interior, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, gilt numeral 59., incised Dreher's mark / to inside edge of footrim

Sotheby's Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected.
