竹林七賢為魏朝文人雅士，力厭當朝貪風，摒棄功名，受道學之啟，隱逸山林，以求清淨自適，全性保真。七賢高士，常集於竹林之下，吟詩作曲，縱情清談，酣嬉淋漓，擺脫羈絆，後世以喻淡泊仕人之風範，歲寒松柏之君子。
