Description
William III
Document signed ("William R") at the head, to the Lords of the Treasury
authorising the payment of £150 to Sir John Trevor as Speaker of the House of Commons and £75 to Bernard Granville "for the Rent of Mote Park (wch. was laid into Our Great Park at Windsor)", countersigned by Lord Godolphin, Richard Hampden, and Charles Montagu as Lords of the Treasury, 1 page, folio, Whitehall, 26 October 1692
Sir John Trevor (1637-1717) was a judge and MP - combining the roles of Master of the Rolls and Speaker of the Commons - who was said to be as upright on the Bench as he was unscrupulous in the Commons. He was deprived of the Speakership in 1695 for bribery but retained his Mastership of the Rolls until his death in 1717.
