Signed gramota ("Nikolai") with a grant of arms to the state counsellor Tikhon Timonovsky. St Petersburg, 16 May 1847


folio (463 x 330mm.), illuminated manuscript on vellum, 4 leaves, first page written in gold within a frame of imperial armorials, the other pages each with a crowned wreath at head containing the monogram of Nicholas I, at foot the Russian imperial arms, and vignettes in margins, third leaf containing the armorial of Timonovsky, signed at end, original emerald green velvet binding with embossed floral border, with silk and paper interlinings, interlinings creased or frayed, spine repaired with green silk, extremities rubbed, lacking original thread and seal
