Each approximately 280 x 188mm., comprising:


i) Cyclamen, inscribed "Cyclamen | 1983 | Baskin" on verso;


ii) Parrot, inscribed "Macaw | 1984 | Baskin" on verso;


iii) Tiger Lily, inscribed "Tiger Lily | 5 Ap[ri]l 1983 | Baskin" on verso;


iv) Sparrowhawk, inscribed "Sparrow Hawk | 1984 | Baskin" on verso;


v) Seagull, inscribed "Black backed gull" | 1984 | Baskin" on verso;


vi) Shrike, signed by the artist on lower right-hand corner, inscribed "Shrike | 1984 | Baskin" on verso


The first of these watercolours was used to illustrate Hughes' poem "Cyclamens in a Bowl" in Flowers and Insects; Some Birds and a Pair of Spiders (London: Faber, 1986), pp. 22-23. Flowers and Insects includes a number of other illustrations based on watercolours by Baskin that are similar in style and subject to those found here.
