FIRST EDITION, 8vo (174 x 104mm.), title within double ruled border, contemporary calf, spine gilt, front free endpaper becoming detached, title-page cropped at top edge with segment removed below publisher's imprint, a few leaves torn at edges, some light damp staining, upper cover becoming detached


FIRST EDITION of this pivotal treatise that went on to define the philosophy of education for the next one hundred years.
