FIRST EDITION, 8vo (165 x 105mm.), advertisement leaf, frontispiece, vignette title-page and 15 illustrations by John Leech, Clarkson Stanfield, John Tenniel and Frank Stone, original deep red horizontally-ribbed cloth, covers with blind-stamped borders (that on the upper cover enclosing a Christmas wreath and lettering in gilt), spine lettered and decorated in gilt, gilt edges, pale yellow endpapers, lacking front free endpaper, slightly discoloured, upper cover almost loose, spine worn and cracked with some slight loss of red cloth

The last of Charles Dickens' 'Christmas Books' published on 19 December 1848.
