FIRST EDITION, large folio (620 x 443mm.), hand-coloured lithographed pictorial title, dedication and 21 plates, contemporary maroon morocco-backed cloth, spine and upper board lettered in gilt, leaves uncut, yellow endpapers, some spotting, extremities slightly rubbed


"An account of the famous tournament at Eglinton Castle, in August 1839, given by the 13th Earl of Eglinton, and presided over by Lady Seymour as the Queen of Beauty. This entertainment is said to have cost £40,000 and to have made the Earl the most popular nobleman in Scotland" (Abbey).
