Emma, Lady Hamilton

Autograph letter signed, to "Mrs Jewitt or Mr or Mrs Russell",

on her concern about the health of Mrs Russell and asking for news ("... Ease my mind about my dear Mrs. Russell. I write from bed as I am not very well or shou'd have been with you this morning. I have not slept for thinking on the sufferings of this incomparable woman..."), with social news in a postscript ("...how delighted they were on Sunday with His Royal Highness & how well He was..."), 2 pages, 8vo, integral autograph address leaf, undated but paper watermarked 1811, seal impression, weak at folds, remains of guard, minor staining

The reference to His Royal Highness in this letter is almost certainly to the Prince of Wales, who had admired Emma Hamilton for many years and on whom she pinned hopes of financial rescue in the early 1810s.
