Original illustration by E. H. Shepherd of a scene from Alice in Wonderland. Shepard (1879-1976) was a successful illustrator, most well-known for illustrating A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh series, yet he was also a widely exhibited artist beyond his illustrations of children's books, and served as a military sketch artist during the first world war. Shepard produced a series of cartoons for Punch magazine of Alice in Wonderland.
