Formerly in the collection of Gustave Maignan (1880-1945), General Officer of the Colonial Infantry.

The two stupas were offered to Gustave Maignan by the Captain Pinault following the archaeological excavations carried out in 1930 on 'île aux Buissons' (Tonkin). See a similar example from the same excavation at the Vietnamese National Museum of History, Ngo - Dinh - Anterior Le Dynasties, Ly – Tran Dynasties.
