4to (202 x 146mm.), woodcut printer's device on title-page and final verso, woodcut initials and headpieces, with final blank leaf, seventeenth-century vellum, blue edges, slight damp-staining towards end
First Italian translation of Zárate's account of the conquest of Peru, first published in Spanish in 1555. He went to Peru in 1543 as an administrator of finance but was caught up in Gonzalo Pizarro's revolt and unable to carry out his duties. This account of Peru includes justifications for his actions in the face of rebellions and opposition.
