folio (331 x 218mm.), title within woodcut border with woodcut printer's device, woodcut initials, different printer's device on final verso (otherwise blank), contemporary German blind-stamped calf over wooden boards, title lettered in gilt on upper cover with the date 1541, paper label at head of spine, two clasps, hole for chaining staple at head of lower cover, inventory number 17 at head of foredge, manuscript fragments in binding, binding slightly rubbed, corners bumped, foot of spine repaired
The Latin epitome of Strabo, which is printed here for the first time, is by Hieronymus Gemuseus. The binding contains a roll-tooled border which is associated with Georg Vicker, active in Leipzig 1519-1550.
