folio (320 x 212mm.), woodcut printer's device on title-page, text in Greek, woodcut initials and headpieces, different woodcut device on final verso, near-contemporary French red morocco with double gilt fillet border and gilt centrepiece composed of small tools and leafy sprays to a fanfare design, flat spine with double gilt fillet border, gilt edges, binding slightly rubbed


A volume containing important sources for the history of the late antique period, written in the 320s, with continuations into the fifth century by Sozomen, Socrates and Theodoret.


In the same year, Robert Estienne also printed Eusebius's works De evangelica praeparatione and De evangelica demostratione (see lot 100) in the same elegant Greek typefaces.
