folio (312 x 200mm.), woodcut initials and illustrations, all hand-coloured, modern reused vellum, lacking 22 leaves (a1-b5, c8, ZZ1-2, ZZ5-6, Aaa1-6), b6 and c1-7 bound at end, many leaves repaired with slight loss at edges, ZZ3-4 and c7 damaged and repaired with loss, some staining and browning
A coloured copy of Bock's popular and informative herbal, first published by Wendel Rihel in 1539, then again in 1546 with woodcuts by David Kandel.
This copy was fully restored and repaired in 2013; the original binding was blind-stamped pigskin (see note in pencil on flyleaf).
