It is possible that this object formed part of the handle of an implement; see for example the acacia wood spoon in the Musée du Louvre (N.1738), which depicts a bearded Syrian supporting a large amphora on his left shoulder (Edward Brovarski, et. al., Egypt's Golden Age: The Art of Living in the New Kingdom, Boston, 1982, pp. 208-209, cat. 245).
