A Roman Marble Trapezophoros, circa 1st Century A.D.


in the form of a tall herm shaft terminating in a bust of Dionysos, his face with full beard composed of parallel corkscrew curls, moustache, and eyes recessed for inlay, his long hair arranged in an elaborate coiffure, bound in a fillet passing over the forehead, and surmounted by a wreath of ivy leaves and clusters of berries; no restorations.

Height 75 cm.
