A Roman Gold Necklace and Pendant, circa 1st/3rd Century A.D.
with linked double-loop chain, the pendent roundel repoussé in high relief with the winged head of Medusa within twisted wire filigree borders, her hair a wild mass of unruly locks, the serpent’s tails knotted beneath her chin.
Length 37 cm.
acquired by the current owner on the London art market in the late 1980s
