An Attic Black-figured Neck Amphora

circa 500-490 B.C.


with disk foot, slightly concave handles, and torus mouth, one side painted with bearded Dionysos moving to right and holding a kantharos, and flanked by a dancing maenad on the left and a dancing satyr holding a wineskin on the right, the other side with a maenad and two satyrs dancing and playing krotala; rays above the foot, tongues on the shoulder, palmettes on the neck, a triangular graffito under the foot, details in added white.

Height 29.2 cm.
