Autograph manuscript leaf signed, being an excerpt from On the On the Origin of Species, [np, nd, but ca. 18–22 October 1865]

One page (320 x 245 mm) written in black ink on the recto of a leaf of blue wove paper, signed ("Charles Darwin") at the foot; six old horizontal folds, small separation along the central fold at the right margin, stray stain to right margin, slight smudging to left margin at foot, lightly browned on verso along four of the folds, removal of an ownership inscription on the verso causing some abrasion to the paper. Housed in a custom gilt-tooled, red morocco clamshell box with folding chemise.
