Mid 2000’s

As one of the most frequent and hyped collaborators with Nike, Japanese collectibles company, Medicom, has joined forces with Nike to design a host of signature styles. Many of the most sought after Nike and Medicom Toy collaborations have been with Nike SB, however this incredibly rare pair of Air Force 1s is adorned with the famous Medicom BE@RBRICK branding.

Dressed in a white leather upper, the pair features silver accents on the Swoosh and the heel tab. In line with many Medicom collaborations, there are subtle details which make the pair stand out. The tongue tag reads B@AR Force 1 and the insoles and heel tab feature BE@R text. This unreleased sample also comes stamped on the socklining.

The Air Force 1, arguably Nike’s most iconic sneaker, is in many regards, the first of its kind. Previously realized in running shoes, the introduction of Nike’s ‘Air’ technology in the midsole was a revolutionary concept for basketball sneakers. Tasked with bringing the concept to life, designer Bruce Kilgore and an aerospace engineer brought the project to fruition with a hiking boot inspired, ankle strapped, high top. Kilgore’s first basketball sneaker, the Air Force 1 was brought to market in 1982.
