The Lace-Makers of Venice

signed indistinctly L... (lower left)

oil on canvas

canvas: 50½ by 72½ in.; 128 by 184 cm

framed: 62 by 84½ in.; 157.4 by 214.6 cm

Private collection, Miami, Florida
Acquired from the above by the present owner
The unusual lancet arch depicted here points to the deconsecrated church of Saints Filippo, Giacomo and Apollonia in Venice, where the Jesurum lace factory was located. The lace-makers appear to have been interrupted at their work by a merry band of revelers.
