bronze, dark brown patina, on green marble inlaid ebonised wood bases

bronzes: 49 by 50cm., 19¼ by 19¾in. and 49 by 46cm., 19¼ by 18in.

bases: 20.5 by 42 by 25cm., 8⅛ by 16½ by 9⅞in. each

These sumptuous bronze statuettes were probably made for a Grand Tour clientele. They copy a marble of an Amazon and a bronze of Alexander the Great, both housed in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Naples.
