Description

Château Cheval Blanc 1982

St. Emilion, 1er Grand Cru Classé (A)

u. 2bn, 1 label very slightly soiled, otherwise good apearance, repacked from owc

In 2020, to end a challenging week, my husband produced this. As he decanted it, out of direct view, the intensity of the searingly beautiful, aromatic, classy nose, all smoky black fruit, betrayed its great origins. One is on hallowed ground here - and to think that 54.3 hl/hectare were made, with only 12.8% alcohol. A huge, mega-impact of black cherries and Russian leather splendour on the palate, with incredibly rich, plummy, mineral lusciousness. Dark chocolate finish, with a kernel of power married to total harmony. This is perfection in Claret and a Wine of My Life. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
