Two volumes of issues containing portraits. [late nineteenth-century]
2 volumes, folio (424 x 265mm.), lithographed throughout, Persian text, with 60 lithographed portraits, and one view (the first volume with 28 portraits and one view; the second with 32 portraits), some portraits with hand-colour, twentieth-century cloth bindings, the second volume with stains and tears (some crudely repaired with tape), sold as a periodical not subject to return
Rare Persian lithography. Sharafat was one of several official newspapers established in Iran under Nasir al-Din Shah and was published from 1896 until 1903. The portraits include members of the royal family, court officials, foreign rulers and diplomats.
