Oblong 4to (215 x 270mm.), 144 silver prints (75 x 98mm., or the reverse), window mounted 4 to a side, recto and verso, captioned in white ink on the mounts, contemporary blue cloth


WITH: vintage silver print of the Egyptian Mahmal loosely inserted (160 x 214mm.), press stamp on the reverse


The photographs include images of Sir Eldon Gorst (British Consul-General to Egypt 1907-11), a young Winston Churchill in Cairo, the ceremony of the Kiswah, and the funeral of Mustafa Kamil Pasha. The views include scenes in and around Cairo, views on the Nile, the 'Khedevial Accession Review, 1908', 'Cairo Rifle Meeting', 'King's birthday Parade at Abdeen, 9th November 1907', views of the pyramids, the railway, and scenes of local life.
