An iro-iro odoshi nimai-do gusoku [armour with variegated lacing]
The helmet signed by Myochin Nobuie (circa 1504-54)
Edo period, 16th century
the sixty-two plate iron bowl, terminating into a four)-stage chrysanthemum tehen kanamono, the mabisashi [peak] of stenciled Dutch leather, the large fukigaeshi [turnbacks] with Bishamonten, the two-tier shikoro with kebiki odoshi [close-laced] in blue and orange braid, the wood gold lacquer maedate [forecrest] in the form of Marici, the Buddhist God of war, gilt-metal kuwagata on an ornate kuwagata-dai pierced, chased and engraved with chrysanthemums above scrolling foliage, the mempo with detachable nose plate, black lacquer interior, two-tier yodaregake [throat protector], the heavy iron do [cuirass] hinged in two pieces, all components laced in iro-iro odoshi [variegated lacing] alternating between dark blue, orange and white braid, the broad o-sode [large shoulder guards] of five tiers, chainmail hyotan-gote [sleeves with gourd-shaped embellishments], seven tassets of five-tiered kusazuri [skirt], the underskirt decorated in stecniled Dutch leather with lacquer plates, shino suneate [shin guards], with two armour storage boxes and a modern armour stand
