A sasaho yari [young bamboo leaf-shaped spear]

Signed Kanefusa

Muromachi period, 16th century, the mount 19th century 



the single blade yari with red lacquer to one side, the mount decorated on a mottled red and black lacquer ground imitating tree bark, 111.3 cm., 44 in. long


Nagasa [length from kissaki to machi]: 26.9 cm., 10½ in.


Accompanied by a certificate of registration as Hozon Token [Sword Worthy of Preserving], no. 3015166 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai [Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword], dated Heisei 29 (2017).
