This charming view of the city of Namur's Place Saint-Aubin, with its prominent cathedral, is based on a lost drawing by Jan de Beijer, recorded as for sale at H. de Winter & J. Yver, Amsterdam, on 18 September 1769, lot 1015. The drawing was engraved by Henrik Spilman (1721–1784) and published as part of Het Verheerlykt Nederland of Kabinet van Hedendaagsche Gezigten (Isaak Tirion, Amsterdam, 1745–1757), two volumes recording over 700 different views in the Netherlands.1
