Large 8vo (250 x 150 mm, uncut). 3 maps, 3 plates, and 2 folding tables; some faint scattered spotting. Original boards with printed spine label; joints a little worn, but generally an excellent copy. Cloth case.
One of 500 copies printed.
Written by Drayton during the period that he served as governor of South Carolina, the present book drew from his extensive travels throughout the state, even into its more remote regions. He was able to gather information on almost all aspects of life in South Carolina, from natural history to Indians and the raising of rice, tobacco and corn.
