8vo (218 x 131 mm). Spotting and browning, a few contemporary annotations. Contemporary drab paper-covered boards; some wear and soiling, joints restored, contemporary ink notations on rear board. In custom slipcase and folding chemise. 


First edition of a rare Jonesborough imprint, with a political biography of Henry Clay. When the election hinged on the question of slavery expansion in Texas, Clay lost to James K. Polk by a slim margin.
