In 1876 Weeks visited Tangiers, four years after his seminal first trip to Morocco. Here the warm dappled light, falling on the girl’s golden dress, is echoed by the tones of the foliage around her and the citrus fruit at her feet. The present work demonstrates Weeks' luminous approach to Orientalism, influenced by plein air painting and early Impressionism.
