Carmelo Anthony made Olympic history at the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Summer Olympic games in Brazil, when he broke LeBron James’ record and became the first Team USA Men’s Basketball player to win 4 Olympic Medals (3 Gold, 1 Bronze). Mr. Anthony is a 10 time NBA All-Star who started his career playing for the Syracuse Orange, winning a National Championship as a freshman in 2003. After only one season with Syracuse, Anthony entered the NBA draft and was the third round pick for the Denver Nuggets. He has since played for several teams, including 7 seasons with the New York Knicks, where he scored 62-points in a single game (a career high). In 2019, he joined the Portland Trail Blazers, where he still plays today.
For the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, Jordan Brand customized an Air Jordan 2 Retro for Carmelo who had just completed his rookie season with the Denver Nuggets. Anthony wore this model, among others, while playing in Athens, where he helped bring home a Bronze Medal.
The patriotic colorway features a smooth white leather upper with white reptile embossed leather paneling and navy accents. The tongues have signature Air Jordan Wing logos and the heels are each personalized with“MELO” labels. Early in his career, Anthony wore the Air Jordan 2, and by his second professional season, had his own signature line with Nike.
