Stylistically, the present drawing has been associated with a study for a seated St. Catherine, of similar technique and size.

The drawing, formerly in the collection of Janos Scholz, is in the Morgan Library and it is attributed to Liberale da Verona (1445-1529).

The drawing was previously given to Nikolas Hogenberg (circa 1500-1539) and Bartolomeo Montagna (circa 1450-1523).1
