Private Collection, Long Island
Herbert Cescinsky, English Furniture of the Eighteenth Century, London 1910, Vol. II; illustrated p.268, fig.298 (as circa 1750)
This handsome table was illustrated in the pioneering study English Furniture of the Eighteenth Century published by design historian Herbert Cescinsky in 1910. The author dated the work as mid-18th century and indicated it was in the collection of D. L. Isaacs, Esq. David Lewis Isaacs (1842-1912) was a prominent London antiques dealer in the second half of the 19th century, establishing important showrooms in New Oxford Street in 1868 which were taken over after his death by Moss Harris (1859-1941) and renamed M. Harris & Sons, which became one of the most important antique furniture firms of the 20th century.
