NIKE, NIKE AIR JORDAN IV, SIZE 12
Rubber, Leather, Cotton
2018
Of all the iterations of the Air Jordan sneakers, Player Exclusive pairs pose a particularly elite status. Player Exclusive shoes are made exclusively for players, and not released to the general public. From gracing the feet of Michael Jordan to the courts of March Madness, a Player Exclusive pair is as close as a collector can get to owning a piece of the game.
This ultra exclusive Air Jordan IV University of North Carolina ‘Tar Heels’ Player Exclusive was released prior to the 2019 March Madness Tournament. The University of North Carolina, an Air Jordan sponsored team, has a long and rich history in the NCAA. The ‘Tar Heels’ have won six national championships making them the third-most awarded team of all-time. Notably, The University of North Carolina is the alma mater of the Air Jordan Brand’s namesake Michael Jordan where he was a member of the 1982 National Champions.
The Air Jordan IV, one of the most popular models of Air Jordan's was created by famed Nike designer Tinker Hatfield. It was the second Air Jordan model that Tinker designed and the second one to feature visible Air. The Air Jordan IV originally came out in 1989 with 4 colors: white and cement grey, white black and red, off-white and military blue, and black and red (Bred). Because of its popularity the Air Jordan IV has seen many innovative collaborations throughout its history.
This pair of Air Jordan IV’s features a light blue suede upper with the model’s signature ‘waffle’ eyelets in clear plastic with blue and white speckles. More speckling can be seen throughout the heel tab and midsole. The outsole is made of an icy translucent rubber. This extremely rare Player Exclusive has never been released to the general public.
