Young Man Reading the Newspaper Pravda: a Soviet porcelain propaganda plate, State Porcelain Factory, Petrograd, 1923


After a design by Alexandra Shchekotikhina-Pototskaya, painted by Sverchkov, the cavetto painted with a young man reading Pravda and a young woman in headscarf within black and gilt borders, marked on the underside in green underglaze with hammer, sickle and cog, signed and dated in black 'H. Sverchkov 1923'
