Formerly attributed to attributed to the Haarlem still life painter Adriaen Jansz. Kraen (1619-79), this composition derives from works by Pieter Claesz. (1597-1660) from the second half the 1640s, such as the painting sold at Sotheby's, Amsterdam, 1 December 2009, lot 40.1 We are grateful to Dr. Fred G.
