“Whilst in Paris, 1886, Van Gogh saw the works of the impressionists for the first time. He began to use lighter colours and different techniques in his paintings as he saw more colours than before. Van Gogh had a strong connection with the four seasons and nature, which became one of his most frequented motifs. The bright green grass dotted with pink and yellow flowers in “Patch of Grass" are outlined with great refinement in a light and colourful palette. Likewise, the refined combination of tsavorite garnets, pink gemstones, and magnificent diamonds reflecting the beautiful colour contrast of grass and petals, symbolizes and depicts the vibrant elegant blossom.”
