This pair of paintings should be compared to the series of four interior and exterior genre scenes by Diziani, of slightly smaller dimensions (38 x 54 cm.), recorded in a private collection, Padua.1 These canvases are datable to circa 1750, as are several larger canvases of similar style and subject matter, such as the Scene in a tavern (71.5 x 94 cm.), recorded in the collection of M. Scaglia, Milan.2

We are grateful to Professor Dario Succi for endorsing the attribution to Gaspare Diziani on the basis of digital images.
