The sitter was the daughter of Sir James Harington and sister of John, 1st Baron Harington of Exton. She married firstly, before 1586, Frances Hastings, styled Lord Hastings (d. 1595); secondly Sir George Kingsmill (d. circa 1606); thirdly, Edward, Lord Zouche of Haryngworth (d. 1625), fourthly, Sir Thomas Edmonds, Treasurer of the Household (d. circa 1639). She died in 1629 and is buried with her first husband at Ashby-de-la-Zouch.
